Ellis-Car innovation is based on data collection methods (and their context) combined with cartographic analysis layers specifically developed in collaboration with leading academic institutes. This innovative approach is based on real-time reminders and an objective and highly accurate analysis of driving circumstances. It has received numerous national and international awards for the robustness and power of its results.

Artificial intelligence tools demonstrate that it is possible to have an instant impact, thanks to real time, and in the longer term, thanks to personalized and confidential driving reports. All of this has a lasting impact on road safety, pollution and fuel consumption. Without submitting to the constraints of telematics: Ellis-Car operates without a box and no Internet subscription.

The innovative approach to road safety made possible by multifactorial analysis tools (based on Artificial Intelligence) is complex. However, we will present below the main axes underlying its mechanism. And the great benefits you can get from it.

The first step is to collect as much kinetic data as possible from the vehicle. These are data related to movement: speed, braking acceleration, lateral acceleration ... Then these data will be cross-referenced with many others, related to the vehicle's environment. It can then be the type of pavement surface, visibility, traffic, outside temperature, rainfall, driving time, etc. Of course, so-called "historical" data will be added, such as the type of accident that this vehicle has suffered in the past, the type of vehicle (car, utility vehicle, truck...).

Other data to further refine the situation, consisting of the different layers of cartographic analyses that we have developed in collaboration with academic engineering institutes, allow us to introduce this important details such as the complexity or dangerousness of each road infrastructure crossed during each journey.

As you can see, the frequency and variety of these data are very high. Only powerful computer systems are able to process them in real time, find meaning in them and return to the driver in less than a second to provide intelligent advice. Or at least to provide him with decision-making support.

The collection of all this data makes it possible to use the algorithmic engine developed in recent years by Ellis-Car engineers. These complex mathematical formulas, or algorithms, produce several types of positive results.

The first one is the "real-time feedback" given to the motorist. Drivers often make mistakes without even noticing it.  It often happens due to a flow of vehicles, on a segment of road or motorway, we exceed the permitted speeds. As our vehicle is perfectly integrated into the traffic flow, we do not have the feeling of driving too fast. Some drivers, such as those who have lost a lot of points, appreciate the slight audible or vocal signal, which then warns them, thus reducing their risk of being verbalized.

The second result of the algorithm is the in-depth analysis of the driving. This analysis makes it possible to design a highly personalized training programme, taking into account the data collected, which we have just mentioned and many others. This is a new program, consisting of weekly and/or monthly driving reports. By refining the understanding and definition of contextualized driving events as much as possible, our recommendations make sense and are perceived as highly relevant by motorists. 

Ellis-Car's innovation consists in detecting driving errors very accurately and sensitively, but also in integrating them into their real conditions so as not to draw hasty and often false conclusions. Of course, an isolated driving error is much less damaging than a regular repetition, day after day, of the same error.  In short, Ellis-Car detects many events but only takes into account those that present a real risk for the driver or that cause additional and unnecessary costs, particularly in terms of fuel overconsumption. And therefore, of impact on air quality.

In addition, we have noticed that the simple fact of informing a motorist of the detection of a repeated error often makes it possible to correct it. This is a very powerful phenomenon of self-emulation. Once again, this confirms that many mistakes are made in a completely unconscious way and that they are part of our "driving style".

In short, these innovations based on artificial intelligence demonstrate that it is possible to have an immediate impact, thanks to real time, and in the longer term, thanks to driving reports, on road safety, pollution and fuel consumption.
